September 3, 2025 and September 4, 2025: Draw Like a Scientist: Observing Art in Nature
At Brighten Learning Center, art and science come together in this unique monthly drop-in class for ages 7–14! Each session explores how artists throughout history have studied and drawn the natural world. Students will observe insects, plants, bones, and even microscopic forms while learning key art elements like line, texture, symmetry, and value. Through guided artist studies, scientific observation, and hands-on artmaking, students will build skills in drawing, design, and creative problem-solving—all while exploring the beauty of nature up close. From zoomed-in bug illustrations to botanical sketches and abstract landforms, every month offers a new adventure in STEAM learning. Perfect for curious minds and creative hands!
September 10, 2025 and September 11, 2025: Robotics and Coding
Join us for an exciting robotics and coding class where students will explore the diverse range of robots that Brighten offers! From understanding the basics of coding to building their own robots, students will dive into hands-on projects that enhance critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Participants will engage with various robots, learning how to program and control them to perform specific tasks.
September 17, 2025 and September 18, 2025: Science Lab
Welcome to the Science Lab for Kids! In this exciting course, young scientists will explore the wonders of science through hands-on experiments and interactive activities. From chemical reactions to biology discoveries, each session is designed to inspire curiosity and creativity. Children will learn to observe, hypothesize, and experiment just like real scientists while having fun in a safe environment. Let’s spark a love for science in our future innovators!
September 24, 2025 and September 25, 2025: STEAM Challenge
In this engaging and interactive class, students will have the opportunity to participate in an exciting STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) challenge. Throughout the course, learners will work in teams to design and create innovative projects that address real-world problems. By combining creativity with technical skills, students will explore the interconnectedness of these disciplines. The competition will culminate in a showcase event where teams will present their projects, demonstrating their understanding and application of STEAM concepts. This class not only fosters collaboration and problem-solving skills but also encourages a passion for learning and experimenting within the STEAM fields.

October 1, 2025 and October 2, 2025: Pendulum Art
Get ready to mix science and creativity in this hands-on art experience! Students will explore the fascinating motion of pendulums and discover how gravity and momentum can be used to create beautiful works of art. Using paint and a swinging pendulum, kids will design unique, abstract masterpieces while also learning about physics concepts like force, motion, and patterns.
October 8, 2025 and October 9, 2025: Snap Circuits
Electricity comes to life in this engaging, hands-on class! Students will use Snap Circuits to build real working projects such as alarms, fans, lights, and more—all while learning the basics of circuits, conductivity, and how electricity flows. With easy-to-use snap-together pieces, kids can experiment, problem-solve, and even create their own designs.
October 15, 2025 and October 16, 2025: Magic Milk Science
Watch science and art collide in this colorful chemistry experiment! Students will explore the science of surface tension by adding drops of soap to milk mixed with food coloring—creating swirling, magical patterns that look like tie-dye. Along the way, kids will learn how molecules interact and why soap makes the colors burst into motion.
October 22, 2025 and October 23, 2025: Pumpkin Catapults
Ready, set, launch! In this exciting engineering challenge, students will design and build their own mini catapults to launch pumpkins through the air. Along the way, they’ll explore physics concepts like force, trajectory, and energy while testing different designs to see which catapult can launch the farthest or with the most accuracy.
October 29, 2025 and October 30, 2025: Mystery Bridge Challenge
Can your bridge hold up? In this hands-on engineering challenge, students will use a fun mystery material to design and build their own bridges. Along the way, they’ll explore concepts like balance, weight distribution, and structural strength. Once complete, each bridge will be put to the test to see how much weight it can hold!
